1 M 39 miles

"Gravel Ride" to Speisekammer restaurant in Alameda for Oktoberfest lunch and German beer. Approx 17 miles of flat gravel roads along the bay starting at the Hayward Regional Shoreline Interpretive center near the San Mateo Bridge toll crossing, at the end of Breakwater Ave. Take the Clawiter exit.

Cyclocross and gravel bikes are good choices. MTBs with high pressure and / or smooth tires work very well.  Road bikes with 28 mm tires are OK. Occasionally people ride road bikes on these roads, but it is a rough ride.

Thousands of shorebirds will be foraging the estuaries and flying around along the route too. Tail wind on the return. We'll pass Raiders HQ and practice field and Peete's coffee HQ and warehouse. And Oakland Airport and Oakland Coliseum.
