AMERICAN RIVER BIKE TRAIL RIDE TO FOLSOM

WEDNESDAY May 8th    2-L/M 67 miles

The Walnut Creek Group of the Valley Spokesmen plans a  67 mile out and back ride along the American River Bike Trail and Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail. The ride will start at the Sacramento AMTRAK station and follow the American River approximately 33 miles to Folsom Lake.  We will loop around at Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge and head to the historic town of Folsom for lunch.  We will return to the Sacramento Amtrak Station via the American River Bike Tail.

We plan to use the 8:29 a.m. Amtrak Capitol Corridor train out of Martinez (MTZ) as our transport to Sacramento.  The train arrives in Sacramento at 9:49 a.m. You can buy a round trip ticket online at https://www.capitolcorridor.org/tickets/

Tickets cost $17.10 (Value Class) each way for Seniors (65+) and $18 (Value Class) each way for Adults (18 to 64). The station codes are MTZ (for Martinez ) and SAC for the “correct” Sacramento station.  For those wishing to drive, you should plan to arrive at Discovery Park in Sacramento by 10 a.m. Park near Natomas Park Drive (in Discovery Park) so that you can meet the group after it crosses the bridge and turns left off Jibboom Street onto Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail (refer to RideWithGPS route).

Whether you take the train or drive you should be in Sacramento no later than 10 a.m.

Riders arriving via Amtrak should meet at 10 a.m. at the area indicated on the RideWithGRP route.

Riders leaving from Discovery Park should expect to see the group at about 10:15 a.m.
