The 13 VSBC Feather Pedals Cinderella Conditioning rides are geared towards conditioning for the Classic route.    Ride 1 will be an easy ~20 mile orientation ride with each following week gradually progressing in miles. Ride 13 is the last ride before Cinderella so it’s our time to celebrate with a social graduation ride that is ~25 miles.  The location and start times are different for rides 1-6, 7-12, and 13 to allow for variety in routes as well as a later start time during the colder weather and earlier times for the longer distances.  Ride details will be announced in each of the pre-ride eMails sent the Wednesday before each ride.

Dave Dalton from 6Fifteen Cyclery is posting a ride for Sunday 2/23/2020.

Meet in front of the Bagel Street Café in the same parking lot where the 6Fifteen store used to be. 3422 Camino Tassajara Rd. Danville

We'll send the A1, A2 & B1 Groups to do Morgan Territory Rd. following the route below. It takes us into Walnut Creek where we'll eventually get on to the less busy part of Ygnacio Valley Rd. We'll take that all the way into Clayton where we'll turn right on Pine Hollow Rd. The gas station there is a good rest and refuel spot. We'll then take Pine Hollow to Marsh Creek Rd., up and over Morgan Territory (be careful on the descent) to Manning, Highlands and home. We have it at 56 miles with over 3,900 ft. of climbing.

    https://www.strava.com/routes/6012068

The B2 & C1 Groups will head up to the Junction on Mt. Diablo by going straight over to Mt. Diablo Scenic Blvd. from the shop, head up to the junction and down North Gate Rd. At the end of North Gate Rd, we'll turn right on Castle Rock Rd., go around the traffic circle to Walnut Ave. and take Walnut across Ygnacio Valley Rd. to the Contra Costa Canal Trail. We’ll take that to the Iron Horse Trail and stay on that to the intersection of Newell Ave. & S. Broadway by the Whole Foods. From there we'll take S. Broadway to Rudgear to Danville / SRV Blvd. and home. 35 miles and 2,500 ft. of climbing.

For our C2 Group we’ll arrive and decide but I would like to try and make the Pay Station on Diablo. If not we can go as short or as long as you would like. I think we have a few riders who will be joining us so this might be a great time to give it a try.

A reminder, please be super careful on the Contra Costa / Ironhorse Trails and be mindful of walkers, other bikers, baby strollers and dogs off leash. Also, I am not sure what group I am riding with. Hope to do A1 so I may need leaders for C1 & C2.

    • Tuscon, AZ
    Registration is closed

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!   Join us on a trip to Tucson, Arizona in late February. We will be there from February 24 to March 4 for a fixed based riding adventure. The drive to Tucson is approximately 13 hours but you can fly and rent a bike and a car.

If you are interested, book your room (see below) and let us know that you will be joining us and we will put you on a group e-mail list to keep everyone update.

Here are the specifics of our trip:

DATES:  Arriving Tucson on February 24.  Checking out of hotel and heading home on March 4.  To reserve a room for 9 nights, or a shorter period if you desire, see below.

HOTEL:  We will stay at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham East, 6404 East Broadway in Tucson.  The average cost of a room is approximately $112.33 a night (plus tax of $17.54 a night). This makes the total cost for 9 nights about $1,168.83 (or $584.42 each if you share).  Amenities includes refrigerator, microwave, WIFI, TV, breakfast, outdoor pool and a large hot tub. This hotel is not fancy but has a central location close to main bike trails and there are many restaurant choices within walking distance.  There are other hotel choices if you want to look around the area but most rides will start from the La Quinta.  TO BOOK  A ROOM AT THE LA QUINTA INN EAST CALL 1-520-747-1414. MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THE WEEKLY RATE.

NOTE: Last year people who procrastinated had to pay more or stay elsewhere because the hotel was booked up. You can book a room and cancel it later if you change your mind.

RIDING OPTIONS:  There are a lot of good rides in Tucson.  You can see some of them from the links below. There are flat rides as well as climbs. We will choose rides between 35 and 60 miles. Many rides are out and back, so they can be shortened. There is a loop trail around Tucson, so we will start most of the rides from the hotel, but a car will be necessary for rides up Mt. Lemmon and Kitt Peak. The group will choose rides from the list of Ride with GPS routes below.  There is a variety of things to do around Tucson including hiking, bird watching, the desert museum, art and Bioshere 2 to name a few.

    (1) - Upper Tucson (by trail) Loop

    (2) - Glenn's Upper Tucson Loop

The 37th Tour Of the Sacramento River Delta (TOSRD)

An overnight bicycle tour from Brannan Island State Park to the state capital and back. All you have to do is check-in a small bag at the starting point, ride, and enjoy the day. Refreshments and your bag will be waiting for you in Sacramento when you arrive at the motel.

TOSRD is proud to provide our riders with a scenic backroad trip through the Sacramento River Delta. Starting at 9:00 am, you meander on levee roads from Brannan Island through Isleton; then, farther down the road encounter the Howard Landing cable ferry for a short river crossing. Continue at tree top level along Steamboat Slough, and on to Delta High School in Clarksburg for lunch.

Old Town Sacramento - Traveling north, your path takes you along the picturesque Sacramento River and into the Old Sacramento Historical District near the state capitol and on to the motel. After you’re settled into your room, you can return to wander through the many shops, enjoying the "old town" atmosphere. The motel provides a shuttle or it's a short walk, bring your flashlight. Remember to visit the renowned California Railroad Museum and play at the water district fountain.

Rooms, Dinner, and a Dip - At the motel you can stretch those tired muscles in the hot tub or swimming pool. Dinner can be purchased at local restaurants.

Sunday’s Return via Locke/ Walnut Grove - The next day the sun rises early on riders eager for the return trip. After a breakfast provided by the motel, you head out of town to tour the river bike path and go through pleasant neighborhoods. Bicycling along the levee route, you go through historic Courtland, the Chinese community of Locke, on to Walnut Grove and Isleton, and finally to Brannan Island for a barbecue feast. At Brannan Island, you will find your bag awaiting you.

The Route - The route is flat both days with probable headwinds Sunday. There will be ample hours of daylight. All stragglers will be picked up by 4:30 p.m. each day. Each day is approximately 60 miles. What do I bring? Riders bring themselves, a bicycle (please have it checked to be in good working order), a helmet, tubes, tire pump and water bottles. Bring after-ride clothing, swimsuit, and personal toiletries in one small duffel bag.

Note: At Brannan Island, there will be a two-day fee for entering the park and leaving your car overnight. When last checked the fee was $10.00 per vehicle.

FOOD - Saturday we will provide snacks during check-in and bag drop-off. Lunch will be provided in Clarksburg and snacks available at the motel. Saturday evening dinner will be on your own in "Old Town" or local restaurants within walking distance of the motel. Sunday breakfast will be provided at the motel and snacks on the route in Walnut Grove. Enjoy a barbecue lunch at the finish on Sunday.

MOTEL - Your entry fee also includes your overnight Saturday stay at one of Sacramento’s cozy motels where you can kick back by the swimming pool Saturday afternoon or evening. We will make your motel reservations.

FULL SUPPORT - Sag support is provided. Frequent sweeps of the course will be made throughout the day.

GEAR TRANSPORTED - All gear will be transported from the starting point, to the motel in "Old Town" Sacramento, and back. Bags will be available on Sunday at the barbecue lunch.

All riders receive a commemorative TOSRD 2020 surprise gift.
